This nature preserve offers a .95 mile marked-path nature trail through the woods, creek and marsh for walking, hiking, running, and biking (no motorized vehicles). Bird watchers will delight in the abundance of birds and possible other wildlife viewing. At the end of the trail is kayak launch ramp (made possible through a Duke Energy grant) that goes directly into the marsh waterway. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash - and at the trail entrance (right off the parking lot) is dog waste station (bags and trash can).
Hours of Operation: 8am-Sunset
- Kayak Launch
- Dog Bags at Entrance
'JOLLY' RUFUS QUICK REVIEW:
I had an enjoyable walk on the mostly dirt path lined with shaded trees (good to visit on even hot days) with a great place at kayak dock for dogs (who like mud and water) to splash around in and to get extra dirty!!!! Definitely do not go right after a rain storm as several places on trail gets a little water-logged and muddy (dogs like me don't mind! humans not so much!) Please note there are some 'interesting' smells (horse/pig farm near entrance and the marsh smell throughout) that I thoroughly enjoyed but my human kinda wrinkled up his nose a little! Doggie bags are provided at entrance.
