Monty's Home is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, sponsoring pet education, pet loss grief support and canine rescue / prison training programs for pet lovers across Southeastern North Carolina and beyond.
PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM- Companion dog training program through Pender County Correctional Facility. Dogs are chosen from a shelter, temperment tested, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. The dogs live at the facility and specially screened inmates take them through an 9 week training course. Inmates work under the guidance of Monty's Home volunteers and train the dogs in basic obedience. When a Monty's Home dog joins his/her forever home, he knows basic commands, household manners, is microchipped and comes complete with own bed, crate, toys, leash, collar, a weeks' supply of food & treats, and a training DVD for new owners.
RAINBOW BRIDGE JOURNEY- Unique to this area, Monty's Home offers support for pet owners dealing with pet illness, geriatric ailments, end of life issues and parting grief. The grief support line offers referral and reference information for pet owners.
PET EXPO- Monty's Home hosts the largest indoor pet event in the area. Every February a host of vendors and pet rescue organizations provide information and products to residents of southeastern NC. The even also includes a kiddie corner, gourmet food vendors, and a silent auction.
PET ED 101- A humane education program designed to teach children basic pet safety, the importance of spay/neuter, addressing growing animal overpopulation issues, the benefits of adopting a dog and the humane care, handling of and responsibilty to their beloved animal companions as well as other animals in their lives.
